2023 Atlanta-Area SENG Parent Group
Are you craving in-person connection this year in a safe and supportive environment with other parents who can empathize with the challenges and joys of raising a gifted or twice-exceptional child? Are you looking to learn and share ways to support your children socially and emotionally, and improve your family's relationships? JOIN US!
Giftedness is so much more than measured IQ, and nobody knows this better than parents who witness the sensitivities and intensities of children who are often just "more" than their peers in one or many ways. Children who deeply crave understanding, who show immense creative potential, who have highly unusual drive to achieve or solve problems in their area of interest, who seem to intuitively understand others at a deeply personal level. Gifted children can be found in every racial, socio-economic, linguistic, and cultural group in this country and around the world.
I am a trained facilitator for SENG (Supporting the Social and Emotional Needs of the Gifted) Model Parent Groups. A SENG group regularly met in the Atlanta area a number of years ago; Deborah Lathrop, PHD, LCSW, and I are excited to resurrect this and begin co-facilitating groups in 2023.
Like all SENG groups, ours will be centered around the book, A Parents Guide To Gifted Children. Each week we will read and discuss a topic together. Participants will receive additional information and resources after each session, and a lending library will be available with a selection of books that are often difficult to find in local libraries.
Our groups will have between 10 and 20 participants each, and couples are welcome and encouraged to register together. Registration will be first come first served, and your spot(s) are reserved upon payment.
We recently concluded our Spring 2023 group, which was a wonderful experience! Planning for one or two Fall 2023 groups is currently underway! Please fill out the Keep Me In The Loop form below to get notified when we have settled on the logistics.
